I'm the Seeding Sustainbable Commities officer at Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT). My job is to collect evidence of current water and energy behaviours through a community survey, offer support and advice, and give residents an environmental pack filled with energy and water saving devices to help them live more sustainably. Also I measure behaviour change by completing a follow up survey three months after the initial face-to-face visit. My pet environmental hate is wasting water. Water is a valuable resource and we should all learn to value it more. Some water facts: we have less water per head in the UK than they do in Spain or Italy, the water industry has a bigger carbon footprint than the aviation industry and if we are not careful some of rivers, especially in the south east may start to dry up in the next few years!!! My top green tip is live life lightly! Try not to take more from the earth than you can give back. What this means in effect is trying to live in a sustainable way. Everytime you go to buy ask yourself why, question yourself...'do I really need this?' and if the answer is no put it back on shelf. Reduse, reuse and recycle!
