Hello!
I am the Trainee Conservation Officer at Peterborough City Council, I am extremely passionate about the Historic Environment, and protecting out heritage assets. I understand that change and development is inevitable and necessary for communities to continue, but it is important that this is managed to protect our heritage for future generations.
My position is part of a project ran by PECT under the Skills for the Future programme, in total there are 5 of us all placed with different hosts, including Burghley House, Peterborough Museum, Nene Park Trust, The Wildlife Trust. For me this programme has provided the chance to spend a year with Peterborough City Council under the Conservation team, I am 5 months into my year’s placement and I love it! I am gaining the valuable experience that I need to pursue a career in the heritage sector.
At Peterborough City Council I have been involved lots of exciting things, some of these include; Acting as consultee and case officer for listed building and conservation area applications, writing Conservation area Appraisals, doing buildings at risk surveys and Writing a new Shop front design guide, as you can see I have been very busy!
