Congratulations John Clare Primary School who are winners of the ET Education Environmental Award.

The entire Eco Committee attending the ceremony to collect their well deserved award! The children were thrilled and it was a great opportunity to recognise their efforts, achievements and enthusiasm.

Head Teacher Martin Fry and Eco Coordinator Helen Bacon are inspirational leaders, achieving Eco Schools Green Flag status and driving forward environmental initiatives.  Mr Fry is leaving and will be sorely missed so winning the award was extra special.

Throughout the year, the Green Team Eco Warriors have been busy promoting energy reducing behaviour in the school. They even made a film to launch their Switch off Campaign. Trying to transform John Clare into a sustainable school, pupils are also redeveloping their garden area following the building of an extension.

Keep up the good work Eco Schools!

With creativity bursting at the seams of Caverstede Early Years Centre, it seems a bright and beautifully bio diverse future for bugs is ahead

Using crackly twigs and floppy leaves, old brittle boxes and worn away bottles, the pupils have created a fabulously luxurious ‘bug hotel’ in an attempt to be crowned winners at the Peterborough Eco Awards 2011! Emphasising the need to both recycle and reuse, the children have combined dynamism and originality to create a superb eco-friendly project. This creativity stretches across to other schools as well. Spanning the length and breadth of Peterborough a  wondrous display of green innovations are sure to make the contest for victory a fierce one!

nop I'm not going to tell you, you'll have to wait until Thursday like everyone else.  On Thursday PECT and Peterborough City Council Children's services will be holding the Awards ceremony for the Peterborough Environmental Education Awards 2010.

The pupils, teachers, parents, governors and other friends of the schools will be there to clap, cheer and generally celebrate the acheivements of the 18 schools who make up the short list for the awards and of course find out who the winners are.

Our poor judges had a very difficult time the week before last choosing the top 3 (or4) in each category (very glad I didn't do any judging) but they did a brilliant job and we are very grateful to the them all.  So we have the Green Envelopes

altFor the first time, awards are being held by PECT and Peterborough City Council to recognise and celebrate the city's schools.

Peterborough Schools have been doing fantastic work in going green and some have some really exciting projects going on.  There are also pupils, teachers and friends of the school who deserve recognition for what they are doing.

So if you think your school deserves recognition for going green, make sure you enter them for the awards.  We want nominations from teachers, pupils, parents, local councillors, school governors and local people.

There are 9 award categories:
