Hampton College was buzzing yesterday with over 120 pupils from pre school to 6th formers, who along with their teachers came together to celebrate their Eco achievements over this academic year.

Eco Awards hall

There were models, games, films, songs, badges, vegetables, beetroot cake, booklets, posters and that was just in the schools displays!  The pupils got to see what others schools have been doing and share ideas, as well as take part in a range of eco activities provided by local organisations.

A range of awards were presented in the afternoon, some decided in advance and some by our intrepid judges yesterday.  Here are the results.

Eco Factor Award

Voted for by the pupils on the day for the most informative and interesting display.
Winners: Nene Valley Primary School, Ken Stimpson Community School

The Eco Team at the Eco Awards

Here we are at the eco awards on 5th July 2011. We have looked around all the stands and the presentations are unique, decorative and clever. We arrived quickly, put up our 'William's Orchard' display and prepared for the judges. The judges were kind and interested to hear about our amazing adventures.

Now we wait, fingers crossed!

Eco Team: Megan, Harry, Charlie, Thomas and Miss Laidler.

Its great so many schools are involved!

I've had a great time today because everyone is so nice and friendly to me. Eco project has loads of people involved in it. I am very impressed that most schools are involved.

Eco Awards are great!

Its been great to see other people's stalls and the Hampton College Sim's game where they connect the subject of 'going green' with the game.

Amos, St Thomas More School pupil

I have mostly enjoyed looking at other pupils' stalls, also finding out what they thought of our chocolate beetroot muffins.  We were very happy with what we said to the judges.

Misbah, St Thomas More pupil.

I enjoyed trying our chocolate muffins and meeting new people.

West Town Eco Warriors!

We are West Town Eco Warriors. We are enjoying the Eco Awards. Our project is trying to save energy in our school. We have been switching lights and computers off and monitoring the energy we save on the automatic meter reader.

We have been awarding the greenest class with our Eco bear and Certificate. The event is really fun and everyone is getting involved. We like being part of the ecoteam because we get to come to places like Hampton college. We enjoy ourselves and get to help the environment.

Our day at the Eco Awards

We are enjoying our day at the Eco Awards. We have gained lots of ideas to share with our Eco Council at school.

We have especially enjoyed playing the games and designed and made by children at Sacred Heart!

Alex, Carrington, Joshua and Owen, St Botoph's school pupils.

The Eco Awards

Today we went to the Eco Awards. The Hampton College students were very polite and helpful. They brought us lots of drinks and fruit and showed us where to go.

It was really interesting seeing what the other schools have done. The best idea was collecting 65,000 aluminium cans.

Adam , Charles, Amie and Abbie, Middleton School pupils.

Ken Stimpson Orchard!

Our school has been designing and planning an orchard. Its purpose is to not only increase education of the school, but also give the public/ community a relaxing family place to hang out in.

We have also interpreted a memorial are in which relatives of lost ones can reflect. Our school is symbolised through the orchard (e.g. KS bench, the water feature and coloured house flower beds). We are also creating an allotment next to this so we can grow our fruit and veg to sell and use in the school. Its really fun and increases team-work skills!

Abbie , Ken Stimpson pupil.
