We want to change the way people shop, cook and eat!
We're helping people access affordable locally produced food, and learn how to cook healthy meals.
With over 25% of Peterborough’s population classified as obese encouraging healthy diets is essential - locally grown food is healthier and more environmentally friendly.
The further food travels to reach your plate the more chemicals it needs to preserve it while it’s transported and stored. These chemicals are bad for the environment and for your health. The smaller the distance food travels the fresher and tastier it will be, plus less energy and fuel is used.
There are lots of benefits if you choose local food:
- Reduced food miles (the distance that food has to travel to reach us),
- Excellent value for food produced to high environmental and welfare standards,
- Producers gain a fairer price for their goods,
- Fresher and tastier food.
We've gathered together tools to help you Love Local...
