Sustainable Community Green Spaces
The project empowered local communities to take direct control of their local green spaces and worked on improving 8 inner city sites.

The project aimed to tackle the issues of neglected open spaces by working directly with local people, in order to show that green spaces can be more valued and used. The Green Spaces Project focused on sites within the Urban II area. It engaged communities to work together and encouraged a sense of civic pride.

The project has supported eight local communities to take positive action towards improving their local parks and green spaces:

  • Chaucer Road
  • Dogsthorpe Community Centre
  • Hobson's Park
  • Norman Road Community Centre
  • Paston
  • Stanley Recreation Ground
  • Welland Recreation Ground
  • Woodfield Park

This has been a hugely successful project that has left a legacy for the city. This project came to a close in May 2005.
