The Winter Warmth Partnership is a project aiming to reduce winter deaths and illness in the elderly and most vulnerable people in our local community. On average there are 86 deaths in Peterborough every year* due to cold weather and many more are injured or taken ill. These statistics are simply not acceptable in modern society where the majority of these cases could be easily avoided.
The three month project managed by Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT), in association with Peterborough City Council, The Salvation Army, and Age UK, aims to tackle the problems caused by winter weather through:
Providing practical advice on heating the home and reducing energy bills
Giving advice on benefit entitlement
Home visits and general minor repairs
Help with shopping and other tasks during cold weather
Links to and advice about other services that may be beneficial
