DESCRIPTION:Dr Gabrielle Davidson brings an insight into her recent research on Great Tit behaviour and previous work with Corvids. \nCorvids (birds of the crow family) have demonstrated sophisticated\, intelligent behaviour such as tool use. Other birds like great tits have also shown problem solving abilities. Does this mean they are as smart as corvids? \nThis talk will explore how scientists can use experiments and observations of natural behaviours to figure out what exactly birds understand about the world around them. \nDr Gabrielle Davidson is a comparative psychologist and behavioural ecologist studying the evolution of individual differences in cognition in great tits as a post-doctoral researcher at University College Cork\, Ireland.
