SUMMARY:Bat Paddle with Canoe2 - Rushden Lakes (NN10 6FA)
DESCRIPTION:Friday 13th September 2019 5.30pm – 9.45pm \nBat Paddle \nAn early evening paddle followed by a bat walk with a Wildlife Trust expert at the Nene Wetlands.\n\nCanoes will depart Canoe2’s base at Rushden Lakes. \nAfter a peaceful early evening paddle on the River Nene you will be met back at Rushden Lakes by your Wildlife Trust experts just as the bats are starting to come out. \nYou’ll then be taken on a guided walk of the Nature Reserve as dusk settles. \nEveryone will have the opportunity to use a bat detector which picks up the ultrasonic frequencies used by bats as they hunt. \nThese events are run by Canoe2\, who will be donating 50% of ticket sales from these events to The Wildlife Trust BCN. \n​Please note that\, as per all Canoe2 canoe hire trips\, you will receive a full Safety Briefing and Paddle Demonstration before setting off in your canoe\, so you will be well prepared. SUMMARY:Creatures of the Night - Roswell Pits and Pocket Park\, Ely (CB7 4EB)
DESCRIPTION:Friday 13th September 2019 7.30pm -10.30pm \nCreatures of the Night \nJoin Ely Local Group and Ely Wildlife Watch as they investigate the night-time denizens of Roswell Pits.\n\n\nAlthough humans tend to head indoors as darkness descends\, sunset is the cue for much of our wildlife to emerge. \nUsing bat detectors and moth traps we aim to discover what creatures can be found around Roswell Pits once night has fallen. \nPrevious searches in the area have revealed good numbers of bats\, including Daubenton’s\, a relatively large species which can be viewed skimming over the water. \nNumerous species of moths have also been recorded\, including the stunning Elephant Hawkmoth\, beautiful Burnished Brass and wonderfully named Setaceous Hebrew Character. \n\nMeet at the Fisherman’s Car Park\, Willow Walk\, Ely. \nFREE event but donations appreciated. \nContact Will Burdett on 01353 661339 or at willburdett@btinternet.com for more information\, accessibility advice or directions. \n\nFriday 13th September 2019 7.30pm -10.30pm \nRoswell Pits and Pocket Park\, Ely\, CB7 4EB \nA Wildlife Trust BCN – Ely Local Group/ Ely Wildlife Watch event. \n
