SUMMARY:Midwinter Walk - Roswell Pits and Pocket Park\, Ely (CB7 4EB)
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 28th December 2019 10am – 1pm\n\nMidwinter Walk \n\nWork off the Christmas pudding with Ely Local Group as they aim to discover what mid-Winter wildlife can be found around Roswell Pits and the River Great Ouse.\n\nWith the exception of our summer migrants\, that flee to warmer climes with the onset of autumn\, British wildlife has largely evolved to cope with the low temperatures\, shorter day length and possible bad weather that winter brings.\nIndeed\, many species actively head to Britain\, thus taking advantage of the relatively benign conditions that these islands enjoy.\n\nWe’ve therefore no excuse not to get out and look for them!\n\nIn what has now become something of a custom\, Ely Local Group will be heading out to see what species they can spot around the Roswell Pits area. Bittern\, Goosander and Kingfisher are amongst the highlights of previous mid-winter walks and\, whilst they cannot be guaranteed\, there should be plenty of interest.\n\n\n\nMeeting point: Cathedral car-park\, Barton Road\, Ely\, CB7 4JE \n  \n\n\n\n\nSatuday 28th December 2019 10am – 1pm \nRoswell Pits and Pocket Park\, Ely\, CB7 4EB \nA Wildlife Trust BCN – Ely Local Group event. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss attending this Christmas-themed Fair\, which is aimed at over 65s with lots of stall displays and activities from different organisations. Refreshments available. \nPECT will be exhibiting its Warm Homes project to help you discover how to reduce your household carbon footprint and save on energy costs. Our Warm Homes project aims to support people to maintain a warmer home\, so they can experience the associated health benefits and reduce their energy bills\, in particular over the winter period. Ultimately we want to help reduce energy costs and cut carbon for householders. \n\n\nThere is substantial evidence of the detrimental impact of fuel poverty on the physical and mental health of residents. We support residents who are struggling to pay their energy bills or cannot keep their home at a sufficient temperature. We aim to reduce the numbers of people living with preventable ill health\, and to help reduce energy usage and cut carbon. \n\n\n
