SUMMARY:Working with The Climate Coalition
DESCRIPTION:Showing the love for the people\, places and life we don’t want to lose to climate change. \nIf you are out and about in Hampton and you find a little green heart\, handcrafted by local WI members\, please take it home with our love and have the conversation with your friends and family about how we can protect the things we love from climate change and support the cause. \nThis valentines day why don’t you show the love by making your own green heart. Give it to a loved one and have the conversation with them too! \n

SUMMARY:DIY Period Pads
DESCRIPTION:Embrace the zero-waste period and dodge the tampon tax with your own DIY washable and re-useable period pads. \nJoin seamstress Cat Bellinger to learn how to make and sew your very own pad using naturally absorbent fabrics. Studies show that periods cost UK women between £150 – £500 per year\, with the bulk of that being spent on non-recyclable sanitary items that clog sewers or end up in landfill or\, even worse\, the ocean. Cloth pads eliminate all of this cost and waste\, and are often considered more comfortable than conventional pads. As part of this workshop we will also be hosting a discussion on sustainable periods – menstrual cups\, organic tampons and all\, so questions and contributions are welcome. \nThis course will provide the materials for you to make your own pad to take home. \nHomemade soup will be served at the end of the workshop.\nHot drinks provided. \nThis is a Green Backyard event.

DESCRIPTION:Energy efficient technology and environmental management systems are two sides of the same coin. Why installing only energy efficient technology is half a solution to the overall problem.\nEnergy efficient technology and environmental management systems are two sides of the same coin. Join this webinar to discover why installing only energy efficient technology is half a solution to the overall problem. \nTo improve resource efficiency and save money quickly\, organisations will often opt for the installation of more efficient equipment. For example\, upgrading from fluorescent to LED lighting. While installing more efficient equipment does present energy and financial savings\, it only solves half of the problem. Without understanding how your organisation is using its resources through energy / environmental management\, you are missing out on additional reductions and savings that could be realised without any extra investment. \nIn this webinar we will discuss the relationship that an Environmental Management System (EMS) and the installation of energy efficient technology have with each other\, and why carrying out one without the other is only half a solution. \nWith Martin Slocombe\, and Claire Lea. \nMartin is a director of Gates Green Solutions\, established in 2010 and provides free energy saving advice and site surveys for all sizes of businesses\, helping companies to engage with: Sustainable Development Goals\, improving energy efficiency\, renewable energy\, off-grid self-sufficiency\, emerging technologies that will reduce their running costs and future proof their business. \nClaire established her consultancy business after 13 years of working in the environmental sector\, latterly at a senior leadership level. Her consultancy business is all about working in partnership with organisations\, to understand their needs and supporting them to implement sustainable and responsible business practices. Claire works with organisations to improve resource efficiency\, implement environmental management systems and to effectively manage environmental risks and opportunities in an ever-changing environment – both business and natural. \nYour host is David Knight from Business Lincolnshire.
