Saturday 21 May
10am-1pm & 1.30pm-4.30pm
This is a great introduction to a breadth of green wood work tools and techniques. On this pole lathe session we will cover cleaving wood using a froe, shaping on a shave horse with a drawknife then turning a spurtle (porridge stirrer) or garden dibber on the pole lathe.
Using a pole lathe is both energetic and mesmerising – you'll never look at another chair leg again without a thought for the turner who crafted it!
Tools and materials are provided. There will be up to four students on each session. Students must be 16 or over. The workshop area is covered but please wear suitable clothes for outdoor working. £5 per person.
