A fruitful day out!

Nature
Head to Wansford on Wednesday 21st October to have a go at planting fruiting trees! As part of the Forest for Peterborough project, the independent charity Peterborough Environment City Trust is running a volunteer tree planting day that everyone can get involved with.

The event will have a focus on planting fruiting trees with apple-themed treats to enjoy. Discover the benefits of fruiting trees for wildlife, and hear about the varieties that are local to the area. The event will be held at Chapel Court, Wansford PE8 6JF (allotment site behind the garages at Chapel Court).

Forest for Peterborough is an exciting project to plant over 180,000 trees in and around the city and surrounding countryside by 2030. The aim is to plant one tree for every person living in the city. Bringing together communities, schools and businesses for volunteer planting days means that everyone can get involved with and contribute to improving their natural surroundings.

All events are drop-in from 10am-4pm, but please bear in mind that the day will be finished when all trees are planted, so it is recommended that you arrive early! Please contact Simon Belham to check arrangements and to register your attendance on 07724 931081 (anytime) or via email (Monday to Wednesday only) at [email protected]

Forest for Peterborough is grateful for the support of the Mick George Community Fund. For more information about the project and how you can get involved, please visit the website at www.pect.org.uk.
