Discover how to be a smarter, greener business

PECT Update
Businesses can pick up innovative ideas to help them save money and reduce their impact on the environment at a networking event in Daventry.

The ‘Smarter, Greener Businesses’ event at Daventry’s iCon Environmental Innovation Centre on September 30, is an opportunity for firms to discover the benefits of reducing their impact on the environment.

There will be a talk on the benefits of innovative low carbon technologies and a chance to hear success stories from other firms including IKEA Distribution, which is setting the standard for environmental best practice.

Running from 9am to 1pm, the morning will also offer lots of opportunities to network and share information with other businesses.

The free event has been organised by Daventry District Council in partnership with Investors in the Environment (iiE), a national not-for profit environmental accreditation scheme.

We want to encourage Daventry businesses to attend this event in order to discover more about the benefits of being a greener company. It’s also an excellent opportunity to network with other like-minded businesses and share success stories.

Investors in the Environment can help improve environmental credentials and in the process save money and help an organisation to be more sustainable. Businesses can also be fully supported to attain an environmental certification too, which adds credibility to their hard work.

The running order for the day is:

9am: Arrival, networking and refreshments.
9.30am: Welcome from Alice Ellis, Environmental Improvement Officer, Daventry District Council.
9.35am: Greening your Business with Kim Coley, Commercial Executive, iiE.
10.10am: Success story with Robert Buck from IKEA Distribution.
10.40am: Networking and refreshments.
10.55am: Success stories from other Investors in the Environment members.
11.35am: Low carbon technologies with Nick Bolton from Electric Corby.
12.05pm: Networking and lunch.
1pm: Close.

iiE’s Commercial Executive Kim Coley said: “The not-for-profit iiE membership scheme can help inspire businesses to make some quick and free green wins. It can also support companies to embed environmental management systems and make some excellent savings. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to speak to Daventry businesses about how they can start on the journey towards being a smarter green business of the future, and use some of our current best practices to help them get the ball rolling.”

iiE is designed to help businesses save money, reduce their impact on the environment, and get promoted for their green credentials. The supporting membership around the accreditation scheme gives businesses the help, promotion and networking they need to make their business greener and to receive recognition for their eco initiatives. Commitment is demonstrated with a recognised stamp of accreditation.

Spaces for the event are limited, so please call Kim Coley on 01733 866436 or email [email protected] or [email protected] to book your free place. For further details about the scheme please visit www.iie.uk.com.
