A workshop to raise awareness and help Peterborough achieve its aspiration to create the UK’s Environment Capital is due to be held in the Town Hall on Friday, 11th October.
Around 100 delegates, including business leaders, social housing landlords and head teachers, have been invited to the event to inspire them to create a cleaner, greener, healthier and more vibrant city.
Stephanie Draper, Director of Change at Forum for the Future, a not for profit organisation which works with businesses and governments to find new sustainable opportunities, will be the keynote speaker at the event.
Steve Bowyer, Head of Economic Development at Opportunity Peterborough, will also give a presentation on the Future Cities Demonstrator (FCD) – a £3m project funded by the Technology Strategy Board which aims to drive innovation in the city whilst addressing key challenges around skills, sustainability and the economy.
Charlotte Palmer, Climate Change Manager at Peterborough City Council, who is organising the event, said: “So much great work is going on to help Peterborough create the UK’s Environment Capital, so we’re keen to share an update with delegates and invite them to get involved to build on this further.

A series of workshops, hosted by British Gas, Anglian Water, Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT), Skanska, Positive Money and the World Wildlife Fund will tackle subjects such as fuel poverty, water efficiency, the living wage and travel and transport.
The event will run from 10am-3pm and will also include displays from local schools about environmental projects they have been working on to inspire delegates about the need for change.
