The charitable project, Forest for Peterborough, is aiming to plant over 180,000 trees in and around the city and surrounding countryside by 2030. The target is to plant one tree for every person in the city and the project means so much, not only for the quality of life of residents today, but for future generations of Peterborough citizens.
Mick George Ltd’s fantastic support will help Forest for Peterborough to achieve its long term goals for the city. Through this funding, PECT can look to improve tree coverage to create a network of wooded areas, improving our green spaces, the quality of air we breathe, and also making sure that Peterborough is less vulnerable to the effects of flooding and other extreme weather.
“We were absolutely delighted to receive a grant of £32,280 from the Mick George Community Fund for Forest for Peterborough,” explains Project Officer Simon Belham. “This generous support will enable us to extend our services to create more wooded areas in Peterborough, making it an increasingly more sustainable city for years to come.”
Through the support that PECT receives, the project will continue its 2015 planting season in October, and during the following few months will plant another 6,000 trees across the city. In 20 years’ time your family will enjoy the benefits of the trees planted, which will then be big enough to walk under.
