Coming together for climate justice

The UK is in a housing crisis, with an estimated 4.5 million households in fuel poverty. Poor quality housing is taking its toll on mental and physical health and children aren’t being given the safe start in life they deserve. Therefore, for many people climate change can feel like a distant concern, despite the fact that measures that tackle climate change can also help people stay warm and cut their energy bills.
That’s why we’ve come together into a climate justice partnership with Citizens UK and Round Our Way.
Project Stats
The partnership will bring together PECT’s experience in community engagement, energy advice and climate action with Citizen UK’s expertise in community organising, and Round Our Way’s skills in bringing stories to life.
By listening to local people’s concerns and experiences around housing, we’ll provide tailored energy advice, support and training for local leaders, and work both locally and nationally to help enable lasting change.
In collaboration with local organisations we will help design workshops in key projects areas (Birmingham, Peterborough, Cardiff, and Ealing) to help improve the energy efficiency of people’s homes and reduce fuel bills, which will, as a by-product, also reduce carbon emissions.
We’ll provide knowledge and skills that will equip local people to be involved in decision-making about home energy improvements to their homes.
