Free programme of inspiring online sustainability events launched for this year’s iiE Awards

Business

Is your business looking to improve its eco credentials and create positive change to help tackle climate change? This year’s Investors in the Environment (iiE) Awards will be bigger and better than ever before, with organisations from across the whole of the UK invited to join in an online celebration of sustainability achievements.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Awards, and to celebrate the occasion, the team behind Investors in the Environment (iiE) is launching a full programme of free online events – from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th October – for you and your team to join.

There will be a week-long series of webinars to engage organisations with different environmental initiatives to inspire, influence and share best practice. The programme will culminate in the iiE Awards on International Clean Air Day (Thursday 8th October).

Hear from a range of inspiring speakers, including:

• Jen Gale, author of The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide
• Stephen Prior, Director of Forest Carbon
• Hugo Tagholm, Chief Executive of Surfers Against Sewage
• Dr Peter Brotherton, Climate Change Director at Natural England
• Sean McCormack, Vet, Founder of Ealing Wildlife Group and creator of ‘Sean’s Wild Life’ podcast
• Alice Troiano, Co-Founder and CEO of G.APP17
• Andy Brown, Head of Sustainability at Anglian Water Group
• Kate Marx, Campaigns and Social Research Manager at Waterwise

Pick and choose from a range of topics designed to cover many of the eco challenges your business may face, including: ‘Zero Waste(ish) tips for slimming your bin for the imperfectly green’, ‘The challenge of climate change and nature loss: Thinking global, acting local for biodiversity and green spaces’, ‘Everything you need to know about reducing carbon: including offsetting, carbon neutrality and Net Zero’, ‘Water and the Green Recovery: Why water saving matters and how to communicate that in your business’, and ‘Is your business looking forward? Social responsibility, impact, and the future of business.’

The winners of iiE’s special awards will be announced throughout the week’s programme of webinars, which culminates in the iiE Awards itself on the 8th October. During the iiE Awards, members and non-member businesses are invited to join together in a celebration of eco achievements and to look ahead at what further action can be taken.

This year’s guest speaker will be award-winning author and creative marketing strategist, John Grant (author of the Green Marketing Manifesto (2007) and Greener Marketing (2020)), whose sustainability client list has included the BBC, The Guardian, HSBC, innocent drinks, IKEA, the Royal Mail, Unilever, the UK Government as well as numerous independent and authentic entrepreneurs.

John was previously a co-founder of the socially progressive London creative agency St Luke’s (named 1990s Agency of the Decade by AdAge) and also in 2008 co-founded a digital startup called Ecoinomy (with Deborah Meaden) that created a platform and incentives for employees to green their workplaces.

April Sotomayor, Sustainability Consultant at iiE, said “We’re delighted that John can join us as keynote speaker at this year’s event. His experience, expertise, and enthusiasm within the field of business sustainability makes him the ideal speaker to inspire organisations to make a real difference in their business practices. We look forward to teams from across the UK joining us at the online event.”

Thank you to the organisations that are supporting the iiE Awards 2020, including BGL Group, Roythornes Solicitors, Davies Veterinary Specialists and Hunt & Coombs Solicitors.
