Join our Christmas Planting Day!

Nature Volunteering

What better way to celebrate the festive season than by giving something back to your local environment? The Forest for Peterborough project is holding a Christmas Planting Day on Saturday 20th December, at Grange Farm in Wittering, PE8 6NR.

Drop-in between 10am-4pm. It's free for everyone to take part in. This fun social event is a fantastic way to meet new people in the great outdoors. Festive refreshments will be provided, all you need to do is bring along some wellies and your favourite Christmas jumper!

The Forest for Peterborough project was launched by PECT in 2010. This ambitious project aims to plant over 180,000 trees in the city and surrounding countryside by 2030: one tree for every person living in Peterborough. In the last four years the project has planted over 74,000 trees, and the success needs to continue at this fast pace in order to meet the target. With so much to do, now is the perfect time to get involved!

In an area where tree coverage is below the national average, the project aims to create a network of wooded areas, improving our green spaces, the quality of the air we breathe, and also making sure that Peterborough is less vulnerable to the effects of flooding and other extreme weather. In 20 years your family will enjoy the benefits of the trees planted today, which will be big enough to walk under.

If you have a spade then please bring it along, but spare spades will be provided too. If you would like to find out more please contact Simon Belham on 01733 882545 or [email protected]
