Volunteer at the Peterborough Harvest Festival

Volunteering
Arts organisation Metal is creating a new cultural, weekend-long Harvest Festival in Peterborough’s city centre. The two-day festival will take place in Cathedral Square on the 19th and 20th September 2015. To deliver this, Metal is working in partnership with international lead artists Lucy and Jorge Orta, with the realisation of their first outdoor meal for 500 people in the UK and the diverse communities of Peterborough to re-imagine the traditional Harvest Festival.

The project will be built around a spectacular outdoor event, in the historic Cathedral Square, bringing 500 residents together for dinner; a Farmer’s Market; an outdoor evening music concert and 1,000 more local people contributing through music, dance, craft, performance and ritual procession.

Overall this city wide, family orientated event will focus on ecological and social sustainability including localism, food production, food waste/sustainability, agricultural education and collective responses to the land. The themes align well with the historic, social, economic and environmental aspirations of Peterborough. Find out more here: www.metalculture.com/projects/harvest-festival
