Rupert Read is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK, former spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion. He is the author of several books, including This Civilisation is Finished, Parents for a Future, Why Climate Breakdown Matters and Do you want to know the truth? The surprising rewards of climate honesty.

Dr Read will be sharing insights from the climate majority project for which he is a co-director:

“Our work for serious climate action is supported by four pillars — none can be neglected or our structure falls”

1. Truthfulness: Truthful, skillful messaging about climate and ecology motivates serious action.

2. Resilient Culture: Building the capacity to “handle the truth”, and respond, together.

3. Pragmatic Action: Systemic change wherever possible, building agency

4. Shared Understanding & Strategy: Promote the collective identity and vision of the emerging movement.
