Cuckoos and Curious Naturalists

The sight of a little warbler or pipit feeding an enormous cuckoo chick is astonishing.

Why are the hosts apparently so stupid?

Field experiments have shown how cuckoos use remarkable trickery to beat their host’s defences.

Nick is Professor of Behavioural Ecology at the University of Cambridge.

He has studied cuckoos in the fens for the past 30 years.

His research has been featured on BBC Radio 4 and as a BBC Natural World film.

His recent book Cuckoo: Cheating by Nature is published by Bloomsbury.
