Event Overview

Embrace the zero-waste period and dodge the tampon tax with your own DIY washable and re-useable period pads.

Join seamstress Cat Bellinger to learn how to make and sew your very own pad using naturally absorbent fabrics. Studies show that periods cost UK women between £150 – £500 per year, with the bulk of that being spent on non-recyclable sanitary items that clog sewers or end up in landfill or, even worse, the ocean. Cloth pads eliminate all of this cost and waste, and are often considered more comfortable than conventional pads. As part of this workshop we will also be hosting a discussion on sustainable periods – menstrual cups, organic tampons and all, so questions and contributions are welcome.

This course will provide the materials for you to make your own pad to take home.

Homemade soup will be served at the end of the workshop.
Hot drinks provided.

This is a Green Backyard event.
